Piggs Peak Casino Crew walks the extra mile for a good cause

Sometimes you have to walk IN another persons shoes to fully understand his or her circumstances. But the past weekend, on the 28th of June 2009, the Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino Crew decided to put on their walking shoes and walk FOR other people.

Always keen to get involved for a good cause, the friendly crew participated in a charity walk for the Cheshire Homes of Swaziland. This is a non-profit rehabilitation centre that is solely dependent on donations to provide health-; rehabilitative-; educational- and social welfare services to the less fortunate.

Apart from walking 16 kilometres through the scenic but sometimes steep hills of the Malolotja Nature Reserve, the Crew opened their hearts by donating toys for the children that receive aid from the Cheshire Homes. These toys were sponsored by Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino.

But the compassionate crew also opened their own pockets as each member of the team made a personal monetary contribution as well. "It is with great pleasure that we participate in charity events such as these, as it makes it possible for us to give something back to the community too," says Wendy Graaf, Group Marketing Manager of the Piggs Peak Hotel Group of Casinos. "And we are very proud of our team who never hesitates to jump on board and help in any way that they can."

This is only one of the many charity causes that the friendly Piggs Peak Group is involved in worldwide. In partnership with ECR (East Coast Radio), they were amongst others, also part of an initiative to distribute more than 21 000 toys to hospitals around KZN during the last December holidays. "For us, our Social Responsibility is not merely an obligation, but something very personal that lies close to our hearts. And we will continue to do what we can to make a difference for those that are less advantaged than what we are," says Terence Leibbrandt, Casino Director enthusiastically.
